Located in New Orleans’ Audubon Park, so-called The Tree of Life (officially the Étienne de Boray Oak) is not only one of the city’s premier tree-climbing spots, it’s also a surprisingly great spot for giraffe watching. The gnarled, knobby tree is a favorite among the locals that know about it. It is noted for it’s eminently climbable branches with scraps of stray ropes and handles to help you climb up into its canopy. Walk from Magazine St toward the river, pass the Labyrinth meditation path on the right and not far ahead is the Etienne de Boré Oak - over 300 years old, we call it the Tree of LIfe

The Tree of Life is a beloved and grand live oak tree, several hundred years old, located in Audubon Park. It's a great gathering place for locals who love the outdoors and a place not a lot of tourists know about. A great hang out spot for a picnic, and you can also climb on some of the lower lying branches. Depending on the time of the day you may also see giraffes on the other side of the fence from the tree, which is adjacent to the Audubon Zoo. Right next door, there's also a stone labyrinth where you can do a walking meditation.
