The longest beach in the region, stretching over 5km from Lagos Marina to Alvor river. It's perfect for swimming, jogging, or just morning walking. You can do various water sports including windsurfing, kite-surfing, sailing, beach volleyball, soccer and much more. There is plenty of free parking space even in August.
The largest sandy beach of the Algarve. Just a 10 min walk from Casa Alegria. As the Algarve can be rather notorious for its wind starting to blow usually after 5PM/17hrs until sunset it is advisable to go to this beach in the morning or begin of the afternoon.
The Meia Praia beach means "half beach" in english, and stretches from Lagos to near Alvor Laguna. Perfect place for a day out for some swimming and sun bathing. Great distance for walks and jogging. A handful bars and restaurants along Meia Praia, from the rustic beach hut to more modern upmarket resturants. Sun from sunrise to sunset.
The beach of my childhood. :) A beautiful and huge beach with 5 km of fine white sand stretching across the great bay of Lagos. You can take a long walk along the beach until you reach ‘Ria de Alvor’ pontoon. A protected natural landscape where river sweet water meets the ocean saltwater and you can see the Serra de Monchique (Mountain). You can also go to the river beach there. Must visit. In the afternoon it tends to be windier, but when it is not windy, it is paradise. If there a lot of wind you can go to the other beautiful rocky beaches in Lagos, they are more protected. Praia do Camilo, Dona Ana, Pinhão… further away: Porto de Mós, Praia da Luz.
