Pontal da Carrapateira is the Real story of Carrapateira. It is here that the first fisherman village was born a thousand years ago and was dedicated to seasonal whaling fishing: Ponta do Castelo village. Even today it is possible to visit the existing ruins of a set of houses. Still in Pontal da Carrapateira, about 200 years ago, local fishermen build the Fishing Port of Zimbreirinha. It is located in Pontal da Carrapateira at the letter F (route guide starting at the letter A, next to the Museum of the Sea and Land of Carrapateira). Even today it is possible to see a set of 6 huts that were used by carrapateira fishermen until the beginning of the 90s. More recently, still in Pontal da Carrapateira, we find the current Fishing Port of Forno, used by the current fishermen of this village.

The Pontal da Carrapateira is a walkable and/or driveable road that stretches from Bordeira beach to Amado beach. Along the route, you will find several viewpoints with incredible views over the cliffs and beaches. If you want to turn this into a hike, there are several options, including a shorter route that returns to Carrapateira, and a longer route called Carrapateira Hills.
