The amazing Sintra, one hour drive from Vigia Lighthouse. An unique place in Portugal with fairytale-like castles and the most enchanting gardens, a visit to Sintra is mandatory! :)

Sintra is almost a neighborhood of Lisbon. You can easily get there by Train – Rossio Station. When you arrive in Sintra, turn the right and get one of the official touristic buses to the palaces. There are two Lines. I suggest the line “Palacio da Pena”. So, you can go down to Palacio da Pena and Mouros Castle with the same ticket. After the visits, return with the bus to the centre of the Village, in front of the “Palacio de Sintra”, a white astonishing Palace. There you can find restaurants, pubs, and souvenirs. There is a delicious pastry called “Travesseiros” in a very famous store called “Periquita”. Important: bring some snacks to Sintra, because the food is very expensive in the Palaces and you just return to the village at the end of the day, where you have many options for meal.

Sintra is a resort town in the foothills of Portugal’s Sintra Mountains, near the capital, Lisbon. A longtime royal sanctuary, its forested terrain is studded with pastel-colored villas and palaces, its a must see. Quinta da Regaleira, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca, Castle of the Moors, Palace of Sintra, Sintra’s Delicacies and many more to see. Its worth a day visit.
