Technically a coffee shop (and a very popular one, at that), their pizzas are not to be missed. Each one is made to order and a margherita is only $7. Super friendly staff and a carefully chosen draft beer menu are other notables you won't find at every coffee shop in town.

Their southern-inspired food has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and often has an hours-long wait especially for weekend brunch. There's a reason, though-- it's that good. If you do decide to get on the wait list (grab a coffee at Hungry Heart while you wait), don't miss the Bloody Mary garnished with house-made jerky.

Their southern-inspired food has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and often has an hours-long wait especially for weekend brunch. There's a reason, though-- it's that good. If you do decide to get on the wait list (grab a coffee at Hungry Heart while you wait), don't miss the Bloody Mary garnished with house-made jerky.
It is not a Japanese Restaurant. Tanuki is not for everyone, but you are guaranteed the most unique dining experience in Montavilla...maybe all of Portland. There are no signs outside. Look for gravestones in the window and the official "This is not a Japanese Restaurant" sign on the door. You've arrived. Inside it is small, dark and usually packed. Stop by for a drink or order omakase for a variety of small dishes of drinking food. Enjoy unusual programming which may include Japanese tentacle erotica or Korean soap operas in an office where some of the characters wear animal heads with their suits?
