Food Scene

Chicken: easily the best lunch value in the city. The portions are huge and can be broken down into 2 meals. I recommend the chicken poutine ($10). Of note is that it is cash or debit only.

Local Montrealers would laugh at this recommendation because it's like Quebec's McDonalds. But for someone just visiting Montreal, I believe it's a must 1-time visit :)

Fine dining: if you want a nice dinner without breaking the bank, L'Academie is the perfect balance. It is a bring-your-own-wine, and there is an SAQ (Quebec's liquor vendor) right across the street.

My top recommendation for 30-and-under, Tokyo never disappoints as it simply offers too much balance: big outdoor terrace, big dance floor, big bar area, and the lineup always moves.

Relatively new, the bar is packed by 11 pm, so you need to get there by 10:30 pm if you want to get in. But, it's worth it.

Old Montreal is a popular area for visitors. I recommend taking St-Denis street to get there as it takes you through Montreal's Latin Quarter. Feel free to ask me for recommendations for this stretch.
