Brunch without a monster line. For groups of up to 6- catfish hash, eggs Benedict - lots of good solid options. This is another longstanding neighborhood joint. If you're coming to Portland for the latest talked-about brunch spot, this ain't it! No pretension, just good southern/NW brunch with savory and sweet options.

Walkable, great atmosphere and good Izakaya style Japanese food. Great ramen. Try their specials - our favorite is the Okonomiyaki, when it's on the menu and the Frenchie roll. The bowls are great too- good Poke bowl.

Parks & Nature
Walking, biking, any kind of human powered wheels welcome! It's the best way to see the river and get outside on a nice day. The streetcar takes you almost exactly to the entrance of the Springwater corridor- you'll feel like you've left the city, and you won't even have to get in a car. Start at the entrance by OMSI and go as far as you can towards Milwaukie. Lots of bird sightings, occasionally a deer or two and frogs galore.

Watch the giant ships come down the Columbia river from the beach. It's a sweet local spot at the far North tip of Portland. River beaches on two sides of the point.
