Precita Park is a good place for a game of catch or frisbee, or just a place to spend an afternoon in the park; however, the pristine playground is the real treat for visitors with kids. There is a colorful play structure and sand pit with plenty of benches around the perimeter of the playground (which is gated). If you're visiting Bernal Heights Park, you might as well visit Precita while you're in the area.

Bernal Hill provides visitors with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama and clear views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown, San Bruno Mountain, and the hills of the East Bay. These windswept slopes are still sunny when Twin Peaks is shrouded in afternoon fog. Red-tailed hawks soar overhead, the breeze sends waves undulating through the native grassland community, and visitors hike around the hill’s peaceful summit to escape from the complexities of urban life. As one of the few remaining natural refuges in San Francisco, Bernal Hill is a special place for the city’s human and wildlife inhabitants.

Popular dog park in San Francisco where your Fido can roam free without worry! The park is giant and is entirely gated, so feel free to let him/her off leash. Note: the park is always closed Wednesdays, and from ~January to March of every year for rehabilitation. The park is also flat but there are sections surrounding with high cliffs that your pup might want to run along (just keep an eye out, as dogs love to play on the cliffs and they can be slightly dangerous).

Beyond Glen Canyon Park’s recreation center, ball field, and tennis courts lies a large urban canyon that has incredible spring wildflower displays, dramatic rock (chert) formations, and Islais Creek, one of the few remaining free-flowing creeks in San Francisco. This 60 acres of wilderness, formerly referred to as the San Miguel Hills, not only provides critical habitat for a wide array of wildlife but serves as a relaxing sanctuary from the city’s urban bustle. At 922 feet in elevation, Twin Peaks is second only to Mt. Davidson in height, offers spectacular views of the Bay Area, and is a world-famous tourist attraction. Originally called “Los Pechos de la Choca” (Breasts of the Maiden) by early Spanish settlers, these two adjacent peaks provide postcard views and a treasure trove of animal and plant diversity. Most visitors to Twin Peaks drive (or take a tourist bus), walk or bike to the north peak parking lot to enjoy 180-degree views of the Bay Area. The best way to see this landscape is to hike the 0.7 mile trail network that ascend the two peaks, where you will also find 360-degree views that surpass those at the north peak overlook.

This park has some of the best views in San Francisco, but don’t overlook the wonderful wildflower display that carpets the grasslands each spring. A one-mile trail network winds around the hill and leads up to the summit for a 360° degree views of San Francisco Bay Area. Trails that lead around the hilltop consist of fairly stable and sometimes steep, dirt paths with a series of box step staircases scattered around.

Neighborhoods

The Mission District is one of San Francisco’s most of-the-moment neighborhoods, packed with trend-setting boutiques, restaurants, and more. But its namesake is one of the city’s oldest icons, the 18th century Mission Dolores. Mission St. is the neighborhood’s main drag and home to a variety of restaurants and shops. Valencia St. is ground zero for cafes, bars and clothing and accessory shops. No visit would be complete without a Mission-style burrito. Choose from local favorites like La Taqueria, La Cumbre, and El Farolito. Burritos are just the beginning of Mission eats. Venga Empanadas is known for its stuffed pastries, Lolinda features delectable Argentine-style cuts from the grill and Central Kitchen offers standout locally sourced plates served family-style. Be sure to visit Mission Dolores, built in 1776. For recent history, check out the Mission’s celebrated outdoor murals in places like Balmy Alley or on the facade of the Women’s Building. Dolores Park is a popular green space that offers a perfect picnic location, people-watching and spectacular skyline views.

Regardless of your sexual orientation, no trip to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to the Castro, the country’s most famous LGBTQ neighborhood. Start your tour on the Castro’s eponymous main drag and visit the Castro Theatre, an ornate movie palace with a Mighty Wurlitzer-playing organist who performs before every show. On your way out, take note of the golden plaques that make up the Rainbow Honor Walk, paying tribute to LGBTQ pioneers. For more history, consider a tour with Wild SF Walking Tours or a visit to the GLBT History Museum, the first full-scale, stand-alone museum of its kind in the U.S. The liveliest times of year are during Pride in June and the Castro Street Fair in October.

Endless Transit Options!

Apart from the obvious Lyft / Uber platforms, we have BART one block south of us (if you're headed downtown / FiDi / airport / East Bay), three Lyft Baywheels bike / e-bike stations within a one block radius, Revel mopeds regularly scattered throughout the neighborhood, and e-scooters around if that's your cup of tea. For cars / vehicles, you can easily rent through the following platforms: -Gig Carshare / Getaround / Zipcar - at-demand car rental options (Gig Carshare has a dedicated location on 24th and Valencia) -Kyte / Turo -Lyft Car Rentals (location on 16th and S Van Ness)
Frasa yang berguna

Local tip: be a local, don't use the phrase "San Fran"!

As someone who's not local to the Bay, we initially started using the phrase "San Fran" to name our city when we first moved here and were immediately corrected! Unless you want to be categorized as a tourist... use San Francisco or SF instead ;)

Parking can be a bit difficult in the Mission due to the number of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. We view this as a first class problem because of all the amenities surrounding us! However, if you or visitors are in need of parking we recommend checking out Spot Angels (https://www.spotangels.com/) to understand where you can easily find parking. In addition, there are a few parking lots nearby: -Mission Bartlett Garage Lot #204 (Impark; Garage) - 2351 Mission St. -2351 Mission St (California Parking; Surface Lot) -3115 Mission St. (California Parking; Surface Lot)
