This corner of the city feels self-contained – its own domain, if you like, with a loveable laid-back, beach-town vibe. The sandy strip of Alki Beach is popular with volleyball players, kayakers and sunbathers, while its coastal path has views of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline. West Seattle Junction is the area’s commercial heart, with casual eateries, coffeehouses and funky shops. Lincoln Park has walking and biking trails on a bluff above the Sound, plus a heated saltwater pool. Until the bridge reopens (currently slated to open mid-summer), visitors from the north can take the long way via Highway 99 or I-5 south to Marginal Way, or take the pedestrian water taxi from downtown to Alki for a distinctly West Seattle vibe. Recommended restaurants: -Salty's on Alki Beach -Il Nido -Harry's Beach House -Ma'ono -Lady Jaye -Mashiko -Itto's Tapas -Haymaker -La Rustica -Phoenecia -Marination Ma Kai
