This is my favorite bar for hanging out either inside or outside. The drinks and atmosphere are excellent and the food is pretty good. Best to reserve a spot beforehand via their website o avoid a long line

Great good - this opened up during Covid and has great indoor and outdoor dining options - probably my favorite local restaurant.

This is the best grocery store in the city - it's small but everything they sell is carefully chosen, fresh and usually local - it's on the expensive side but well worth it.

This is a great urban park surrounded by the Painted Ladies and with amazing city views, especially at night.

This is a great urban park surrounded by the Painted Ladies and with amazing city views, especially at night.
This is just a block away and there is always something interesting going on here - drop in boxing classes, basketball, outdoor gym or just hanging out under the giant eucalyptus trees.

This is a great place to rent bikes - they cover anything from a hybrid for riding around the park to a carbon road bike for a long ride into Marin. There are lots of excellent cycling options for exploring San Francisco or going further afield so let me know if you want any recommendations.

It's a 15 minute walk from the apartment to the top of Buena Vista and it's well worth it - it's a reasonable climb to the top but there are great views of the city and the trees and other flora will take your mind off the steeper sections.
Daytime only - at night it is very dark and not recommended!

It's a 15 minute walk from the apartment to the top of Buena Vista and it's well worth it - it's a reasonable climb to the top but there are great views of the city and the trees and other flora will take your mind off the steeper sections.

Lyft or Baywheels bikes are a great way of getting around
There is a bike-share rack on Lyon between Hayes and Fell which is less than a block away. This is a great way to get around the city - just use the Lyft app to unlock a bike and there are docking options all over the city.
Otherwise Lyft/Uber are cheap to get around as it is a small city.
Going further afiield try Turo for car rental as an alternative to the main car rental companies.

Pack Layers
San Francisco weather is famous for getting cold and foggy quickly so make sure you have layers as the temperature can change very quickly and can be very different in different neighborhoods.
Also bring good shoes - it's a really good city to walk around but i's pretty hilly in places.
