411 foot majestic waterfall, paved path in, easy walk, viewing platform down the many, many stairs. It’s worth the walk down (and up) the stairs.
these falls are located in Gorges State Park, approx. 5 miles from the house. This is a moderate hike, with the more challenging portion of the hike coming on the exit. It’s approximately 3 mile round trip, with the exit mostly up hill. The falls are beautiful! If you have energy, continue on up the path from Rainbow Falls to Turtleback Falls. Take a backpack, snacks.
o The welcome center at Gorges State Park is well worth visiting.

Rainbow Falls
these falls are located in Gorges State Park, approx. 5 miles from the house. This is a moderate hike, with the more challenging portion of the hike coming on the exit. Secret Falls Trail Head

Panthertown has a huge trail system! There’s a map on the wall downstairs by the ping pong table, our suggestion is follow the directions to Salt Rock Gap. The ride up the mountain is nice, pass some Christmas tree farms. The road ends at a dirt road, keep going. We suggest taking the main trail about ¼ mile in to the overlook on the left.

Panthertown TrailPanthertown has a huge trail system! There’s a map on the wall downstairs by the ping pong table, our suggestion is follow the directions to Salt Rock Gap. The ride up the mountain is nice, pass some Christmas tree farms. The road ends at a dirt road, keep going. We suggest taking the main trail about ¼ mile in to the overlook on the left.
Whiteside Mountain Trail - this is a great hike! Take Rt64 towards Cashiers, after the scenic overlook take a left on Whiteside Mountain Road, take to the marked parking lot, approx 1 mile. As shown in the picture, take the steps up from the parking lot and take a left on the trail. We preferred to take the main trail to the top of the mountain, it's about a 1 mile hike to the top, all up a moderate incline. The trail is a 2 mile loop, we came down Loop Trail, which is probably easier to come down than go up! At the top, the views are amazing! Enjoy!

Mills River - down the mountain near the Asheville Airport, well worth visiting. There are still some limited restrictions for 2021, but they are taking and requiring reservations, allowing you to walk the property and music should be starting in Fall ’21

Asheville is approximately 80 mins from the house, well worth a day trip into Asheville. We love visiting the Biltmore House, Wicked Weed Brewery, Highlands Brewery, lunch or drinks on the sunset patio at The Grove Park Inn.
