Carkeek Park is 2 miles to the SW and is one of the nicest parks in Seattle. It has a large green space, hiking, large open grassy park with a great playground, and a bridge over an active train tracks and steps down to the beach. If the weather is hot, a quick trip here will cool you right down. Richmond Beach is less than 5 miles north is another very cute option for an outing on the water. For all of your shopping needs, Northgate mall is just to the SE with everything from Target to Nordstrom, and has a large movie theatre including IMAX.
