Lake Chabot has a 10mi paved trail that loops around it which is perfect for a casual stroll with the kids or a scenic long run. The trail is stroller, scooter, and bike friendly. It also has boat/kayak rentals, a small cafe, and is just BEAUTIFUL.

Pack a lunch, jump on the San Mateo Bridge, and drive straight to the ocean. Spread out a blanket on the sand and spend the day in the fresh salt air.
Note for first-time visitors: Our beaches are not warm like SoCal so bring a hoodie along. We recommend checking the weather before you go.

We love bringing our out-of-town guests to Chrissy Field for group pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop. It's also a great place for a walk/run offering paved trail along the Bay.

Food scene
Hippies Brew is our favorite local coffee spot. The store front is part of the brand new Hayward Library which has an excellent kids space. Every Saturday is the Hayward Farmers Market on the backside of the Library.
