The cabin is located in the Foster-Powell neighborhood. The Foster-Powell neighborhood is growing many new, locally owned businesses along Foster Avenue. When we are not under Stay at Home order, there is a monthly Art Walk, a new local brewery, coffee, and many classic Old Portland buildings & businesses. Due to the Governor's Stay Home, Stay Safe order, most businesses are currently closed, but it's worth calling around to see who is offering takeout or other services.

They said "Foster Road, a diagonal street in a city of square grids, has also long been part of Portland’s landscape and once served as a footpath for indigenous people who moved between the Willamette River and Johnson Creek." The neighborhood is on traditional lands of the Chinook, Cowlitz and Clackamas peoples.

I go here almost daily - about a 10 min walk from the cabin. They serve toasted bagels and have some breakfast pastries, but are mainly about the coffee. Check out the amazing Jade tree in the window. Indoor seating, some outdoor seating.

I like this Travel Portland description best: "Since 2001, Chinese Vietnamese bakery An Xuyen has earned a spot as a neighborhood favorite serving banh mi, pastries, bao, sticky rice and, if you’re lucky, spring rolls. (Check the specials board!) The baguettes and pastries are all made in-house (and found across town at grocery stores and restaurants).
This artisan Pan-Asian bakery and delicatessen offers authentic eats like coconut sweet rolls, baked barbecue pork buns and guava puffs (along with savory options like their banh mi-style sandwiches).
Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival tip: An Xuyen is one of the few places in town that bake their own mooncakes for and they sell out every season, so be sure to take home a few of these delicacies when you see them on the shelves."

Ice cream has come to the neighborhood! Cute new place opened in a classic space just off Foster. They make their own cones in-house. Everything I've tried has been great - I love the coffee especially. So nice to be able to walk down Foster to get some dessert on a warm summer night.

Want to rent a bike to ride around town? There is a rental hub right near the cabin, at the Mercado (72nd & Foster). Look for the orange bikes. Look at the website for details - rentals are made via the Biketown app.
