Also a great place to set up your laptop and work for the day while getting in some great people watching on the side.

This high end food cart station is a great introduction to the cart scene for anyone. There's indoor seating and its very clean. Not the cheapest, not the fastest but it is super popular.

This cart pod has tons of variety! Great food from Africa and Louisiana, crepes galore, burgers and asian food--and of course Voodoo doughnuts.

ANY of the McMenamins places is amazing, but we chose the Crystal Ballroom because it has the greatest concentration of their fun and funky choices in the downtown area. They've got great bands, a nice restaurant, a speakeasy (ask where to find it) and great art. It is just a short walk to one of their theaters, too.

The guys who own this beautiful farm are amazing. They love to teach you about their passions--iris breeding, country life and gardening. We have really enjoyed getting to know them and spending the afternoon wandering their gardens.

We love the Black Rabbit restaurant, the funky theater, the brew pub, the summer music series, the loading dock (who knows what you'll find), walking the grounds of this former poor farm and of course, the art.

Here's where we put in our raft for a day on the river. Locals will be floating from here to Carver Park almost any warm day in the summer. If you'd like to rent a kayak or raft there's a REI store really close and they'll outfit you for an incredible time.

They'll give you lots of route info, but our favorite is to ride the waterfront trail to the Sellwood bridge, cross (grab a bite at the food carts or take a ride on the ferris wheel) and follow the Springwater trail to the Tillicum crossing.
