teas, pastry, snacks, best hot chocolate. It is not new, but the giant scones, the yogurt parfaits, muesli and fruit, the toast on raisin bread or cake yeast of the Azores and the cakes, all cakes, continue to merit our love and fidelity. Housed in an old cheese factory, it has the perfect setting to start a day in Sintra, with a breakfast menu or brunchque that gives a quiet two people. Inside, the Internet network is weak, a great pretext to drop Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp and enjoy the moment as it did in the past.

Almost everything you eat in this restaurant is served on boards. There are no shortage of typical cheeses or mixed transmontana, with sausages (€9), but then there is also the sea, with smoked salmon with lime, capers and mayonnaise of ginger (€7) or the vegetarian, with falafel and chutney of purple cabbage. You can also eat toasted, piadinas, quesadillas and other specialties, such as the roasted eggplant with honey and cumin (€7.80). On Saturdays and Sundays there is brunch with full table and prices from the €11.

Diana Paixão is from the pharmaceutical industry, but she always said she had to open a petiscaria. It happened a year ago, when you opened the Tapas strip in your homeland, and where you serve the most traditional snacks, all small houses. Some of us already know of Ginjeira, but here they have a "different taste". The Gizmo (€6.50) is one of the most requested, there is a black pudding with pineapple and honey (€6), a shrimp curry "with serious flavor, no powders" (€9.50) or a plate of mushrooms to Bulhão Pato that takes three different types of mushrooms (€6). Everything to share, no selfishisms. To the end, the sweet of the house: Cream cheese mousse with pumpkin jam.

100 m from SINTRA DELIGHT, Café da Natalia is a classic of São Pedro de Sintra . Try the walnut cake with egg candy. No, it's better to try the raspberry Cornolettos. No, the milk cheese. We already know – the golden nuts! The Blatterpie. The Brigeiros. The apple tart with milk--cream... In doubt, like us, try several. Great place to have breakfast, small meals or just some tea with scones or cake in the afternoon.

To the sides of Sintra there are not many cafes with the instagramable dishes like these, with terrace and lake view, without endless waits but with plenty of offer. It all started with the juices but the letter grew with Shakshukas, salads, toast and spinach or cocoa pancakes. Every day has a different suggestion and for mid-September the pasta dishes arrive. They also have organic, white and red wine, from Quinta do Cardo, and ice cream .

Two fingers of conversation with half of locals are enough to realize that the Curral dos Caprinos is one of those mandatory classic restaurants that continues to serve good Portuguese food. It opened in 1974 with specialties of Beira Baixa and Baixo Alentejo, from where the owners are, and the star of the menur, the goat, remains – there is in the version roasted in the oven, the fashion of Oleiros (only under previous order), grilled on the Ember or in the puface with mushrooms. Delicious !!!

Facing the beach, this spacious house stands on the other side of the road, after years of watching the area grow. The space has been here for over 20 years but there are only ten works as a restaurant and not just as a beach bar. Now Manuel cotta and José cotta, brothers, have it open during the winter, until the time comes to put out the fireplace inside and set the tables and parasols outside. Much of what is eaten here is the work of the mother, Madalena Cotta – "It is like being eating at home," says José. And what is that? It is for example a Portuguese cooked buffet on Sunday, in winter, and a steak tartar in summer as a dish of the day. Since July 15th there is a drinks and cocktails counter, another sushi and a beach support.

The Sintra national palace is unique amongst the royal mediaeval palaces in Portugal and the town’s most distinctive building. It is worth visiting the interior of the palace, where you will certainly find out a little more about the history of Portugal. The decoration is quite remarkable, being a combination of various artistic styles that depended on the respective tastes of the kings that lived here, and carried out in such a way as to give different names to the various rooms. In particular, the attention of visitors is drawn to the Sala dos Cisnes (Swans’ Room), the Sala dos Brasões (Armoury), the Sala das Pegas (Magpie or Reading Room) and the chapel. http://www.parquesdesintra.pt

Capuchos Convent, also known as Santa Cruz or the Cork Convent, was built in 1560 by Dom Álvaro de Castro, in fulfilment of a vow by his father, Dom João de Castro, who was Viceroy of India. Its tiny cells, little chapel, refectory and other dependencies, installed in the rock and lined with cork, are a telling example of the humble and austere existence of the Franciscan friars who lived here. Its vertical cliffs rise up around 100 m above sea level, offering spectacular landscapes. When you visit the site, ask for the diploma that proves you've been there. Around 150 metres above the sea, here you can have a panoramic view over the Serra de Sintra and the coast, which makes it worth the visit. Historical records indicate that there was a fort on Cabo da Roca in the 17th century that played an important part in guarding the entrance to Lisbon’s harbour, forming a defensive line along the coast, especially during the Peninsular Wars. Today there are only traces, as well as the lighthouse which is still an important point for navigation. It lies within the Parque Natural de Sintra.

If you're interested in geology, make sure to visit notable formations such as the consolidated fossil dunes in Magoito and Oitavos, the fields of calcareous stone eroded by the seawater next to Cabo Raso (Cascais) and the “living” cliff in Azenhas do Mar, on which a picturesque village has been constructed by great human skill. The dinosaurs also left their mark in the zone, in the almost vertical chalk layer of the South Cliff of Praia Grande where an important collection of 11 trails and isolated footprints can be seen

More like a fairy tale cottage, but it is quite true and it was here that Elise Hensler, Countess D'edla and opera singer, lived her love story with King Ferdinand II. Park and Palace of Monserrate This fantastic Romantic park was created by William Beckford, who fell in love with the Serra de Sintra. Francis Cook, the first Viscount of Monserrate, who, together with the landscape painter William Stockdale, the botanist William Nevill and the master gardener James Burt, created the contrasting scenarios that are to be found in the park. Particularly worth a mention inside the palace are the Music Room and the luxurious reception rooms, such as the Indian living-room, the dining-room and the library, all of which are to be found on the ground floor. The tour of the palace also takes visitors to the first floor, where the private apartments were located.

According to tradition, this Beach takes its origin from the maçãs (apples) that would wash up on its sands, carried down to the coast by the Ribeira de Colares river. Popular in the summer, the Beach covers a substantial area with space for a range of differing sporting activities. The sea, with its strong waves, boasts good surfing conditions. Frequented by families from the region or who have holiday homes, one very picturesque way of getting to Maçãs Beach from Sintra during the summer months is by a traditional tram that has recently undergone a full restoration.

It is close to Cabo da Roca, the famous westernmost point of Europe, and its beauty is able to mobilize even the most rocky heart. The rocks, incidentally, make up the scenery around you, but rest assured that the sand is fine. The result is a postcard of filling the eye, of course, but as all that is good gives work, remember that awaits you a long walk from the car park until finally reach the proximity of the sea. How to get there: the N247 Valley by itself: A road that winds the Serra de Sintra, often overlooking the sea. Once in the village of Almoçageme, just follow the signs to the beach of Adraga..

Jumping, climbing or skateboarding at Quatum Park, it is one of the largest trampolines in Europe. The park is divided into three distinct stations, each with difficulty levels adapted to the experience (or lack of) of each. At the entrance we are welcomed by a rainbow transformed into 20 climbing walls nine meters high. The best, of course, the trampolines, which occupy the largest area of the park, relying on a basketball field and another of Dodge ball, a jump tower, for the bravest, and a ninja route, with jumps, equilibrism, race, suspension. At the bottom of the park, is the most radical area with a half-pipe and next door a giant air bag in the form of a ramp to land after maneuvers.
