Take a beautiful drive on Highway 1 going south of SF -stunning views of the Pacific. Montara beach is great for hiking (not so much for swimming). Right outside of Ghiradelli is Aquatic Park, with antique ships, outdoors swimmers, a small beach and views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Right down the street is Fisherman's Wharf.
