Locals call it Children’s playground. This huge newer play park is near to bathrooms( up hill from carousel,), a carousel ( limited hours) , parking lot & street parking options ( enter off Lincoln )and a food truck . The play park has big and little kids areas with structures, climbing, swings and cement slides ( tip: bring some cardboard to ride or pray you get lucky someone else left extra)picnic area with tables uphill past bathrooms or bring a blanket if that’s your style

This has been a family favorite of ours for years. Complete with 1920s carousel ( closed for refurbishment until august 2022), play park, food areas, steam train ( check with zoo about schedule ) plus lots of animals to experience. Check current fees and open attractions to set current expectations. With 3 places to buy food, we often opted to pack snacks in the stroller. Beware of furry thieves if you visit the farm and watch your stroller or bring the food with you.
As it’s right by the south end of ocean beach, the temperature can be vastly different than our house. Bring a warm layers.

Some paid parking in the area. Take F line for the historic trolley experience to and from this location.

This free museum has old fire trucks is free and has limited hours( check before you go/ plan) We have only had the friendliest of visits here.

Picnic table and public bbq, sandy beach ( beware: cold water, plus rip currents) and grassy area for whatever activity you like ( frisbee, ball toss etc) bathrooms passed the warning hut to the north end of the path toward the bridge.

Picnic table and public bbq, sandy beach ( beware: cold water, plus rip currents) and grassy area for whatever activity you like ( frisbee, ball toss etc) bathrooms passed the warning hut to the north end of the path toward the bridge.

This family friendly spot with jukeboxes at the booths has indoor and outdoor dining these days. If you are lucky, they have cheesecake in stock. While parking can be tight, loop around a few block and you will likely get lucky ( especially on Geary). Limited vegan options ( salad and side of cooked veggies ) Call head for takeout.
