🌹🌹Before I start to talk about my place and area please let me explain that Airbnb means local experience to teste how local people lives, not a 5* stars hotel or resort 🌹🌹

The Airbnb is located in a populated suburb of Cairo in the area surrounding the Giza pyramid and Sphinx complex called Al-Haram district.

I have 2 apartments on the 9th floor of a building constructed in 2005. Along with our unobstructed view of the pyramids there is a charming 3 sided elevator, considerably smaller than typical lifts, but very safe and maintained with care. also there are 2 cameras outside of the building and another camera in infront of the apartment for our clients safety..

The surrounding bustling community itself is about 200 years old. Streets are narrow and filled with our neighbors and various street vendors. Within short walking distances are many Egyptian coffee bars, pizza, and bakery shops as well as a multitude of fresh produce and street food vendors. There are many good options for grocery markets, banks, gym, pharmacies, and even a hospital nearby. There are a mosque and school within our surroundings blocks. From our balcony you can take in a typical day in the life of students and their families bringing them to and from school as well as listen to the melodic calls to prayer over speaker systems.

Our neighborhood is quite used to seeing new people and are very helpful. Children walking to and from school will most likely wave and say hello. As with any major city awareness is important but we are fortunate to live in a community of friendly people.

Transportation is something that is not lacking and you will hear it virtually anywhere you are. While the Airbnb is quiet, the musical beeping of the streets is ever present. There are public transports, taxis, horse carriages, and tuk-tuks available virtually 24 hours a day. We can always arrange these for you as well as a private car and driver to assist in getting you around. While it may be tempting to rent your own vehicle for personal autonomy, we would advise utilizing a driver since the streets of Giza and Cairo are often described as organized/disorganized chaos. Most of our visitors are quite disarmed and confused by our local road customs. Parking is also extremely limited and we can not guarantee there will always be a space available.

The whole of the Nile river valley is a service based economy that relies heavily on tipping. While that may be an uncomfortable fact for some, please understand it is the way of life for many many people that live here. We can help educate you on proper tipping amounts and procedures before and during your stay.

And now let me take this moment to introduce myself. My name is Nermin and I am a proud native born Egyptian woman. Having been born into and raised within a rather conservative middle eastern family, it wasn’t naturally accepted that I would attend university let alone develop a thriving career.

My drive and passion helped me navigate many great obstacles. The hardest of these were the conservative nature of my own peers and family.  Through perseverance and finding my own creative solutions I successfully completed my degree in Egyptology. After securing the funds necessary I became a fully licensed and vetted guide for Egypt’s State Tourism.

I love where I am from, I love the history of my great country, and I am passionate about introducing people to this rich culture and history. Perhaps it is because it was monumentally more difficult for me to break down perceived gender barriers as well as to work harder than my male counterparts that I owe my strong abilities within my chosen career.

In 2012 I experienced one of the proudest moments of my life. The Egyptian Antiquities Department chose me to join an elite group of top 100 guides. At 27 years old I was the youngest to receive this prestigious nod. Soon after I ventured into my first real estate investment. The Airbnb apartment and my small tour company ( Cairo tours & packages / Egypt tours) purchased continue to be a crown jewel for me . They have given so many people the chance to fully immerse into the world that I have studied, grown up in, continue to love and honor.

Covid rocked the entire world, including mine. The inability for people around the world to travel for such a long time created a bleak situation. And while it was truly one of the hardest things to get through we have started to emerge from the other side of this. As has been tradition for me throughout my life, overcoming these challenges has served in making me more certain this is exactly what I’m supposed to do and come out stronger for it.

I do hope that you will be part of this new chapter in my life and allow me the honor of personally welcoming you to the cradle of civilization. I will work tirelessly to help you get everything you need from this once in a lifetime trip, with budget sensitivity so you can make it many more times than once!
