Apa yang akan anda lakukan

See Kibera as only a local could and experience the real Kibera through the lense of hope. We’ll meet the dreamers creating a difference in Kibera through their mission-driven, small businesses. There are 5 stops on our journey...
1. Moses's House - I'll start by inviting you into my house, to tell you my story, from growing up in Kibera through starting my own tour company with a mission.
From there we’ll walk the railroad tracks of Kibera, meeting the people.
2. The Kibera Organization - We'll meet Edu who provides microloans for female-owned small businesses. They also provide motorbikes for Kibera residents to get to work.
3. Bio Gas Center - We’ll meet Edwin, the founder of a project which turns Kibera’s waste into energy for it’s inhabitants.
4. Women’s Craft Center - We’ll meet Rosemary who set up a workshop for women living with HIV. Collectively they remove the stigma of HIV by employing women with HIV to create crafts.
5. Master's Touch Bakery - At the finale of our tour, we’ll meet Nancy for coffee & fresh baked goods. Nancy will relate her story of starting a business as a single mother and the adversities women face starting a business in Kenya.

Hi, my name is Moses.
I was born, raised and still live in Kibera, the largest continuous slum in Africa.I studied development studies and challenges facing emerging countries.I am volunteering with Kijiweni Welfare Group on projects in HIV,Peace Management and Conflict Resolutions,Human Rights advocacy,Sustainable development Projects etc. I’ve worked as a tour guide for 8 years before starting my own business. By hosting these tours, I am lucky enough to have found a way to weave my mission of empowerment and passions together and bring it to the people.(i.e. you).I like football, outgoing, traveling, reading, and socializing. This tour gives you an intimate view of daily life in Kibera. It will show you the infectious raw spirit that dwells within it`s walls and you will fall so hard for the people that make up this incredible community.

An influential person in my life said about travel; "you have to get off the interstate to see the world. Moses's Kibera Empowerment Walk gets you into the city within a city of Nairobi. Being a tourist in Nairobi or a temporary resident, as I am, it is easy to be in route to safari or on to the beautiful Kenyan coast or stay in a highly tourist occupied area and you never really have a opportunity to see what it is like for the local people. If your chose to to gain a greater understanding of this complex culture, you cannot go wrong walking with Moses in Kibera. Moses is a warm and compassionate individual and a leader in his community. Moses opens his home, shares his story and explains the history and events that bring Kibera to what it is today. Moses connects you to exceptional people doing exceptional work for their community. You will find it friendly and safe. Bring an open mind, an open heart, open eyes and open ears and you will not be sorry you decided to walk with Moses. This is a great experience for anyone that wants to add a deeper experience to any travel experience and give you a deeper and richer understanding our world. For me, I feel like I made friends and found ways to connect in meaningful and transformative ways giving a deeper purpose for why I venture out of my home.

My experience in Kibera was truly life changing. Moses is as AMAZING of a guide as I have ever had and I have had quite a few. His knowledge base is immense and his genuine concern for the people of Kibera is truly a marvel to behold. 2 of the highlights of the tour were the Youth BioGas project and the Women Power Project. This is the type of experience that will really make you appreciate all the blessings that have be bestowed upon you in this life. I received the contact information for many of the projects in Kibera and I am truly invested in the success of the people there.

This walk was an experience. I am from the United States of America and this walk opened up my eyes. I was able to see the plight of Kibera from Mose’s eyes and from the eyes of its people. Moses showed me how the people want help, but not handouts. I would recommend this walk to everyone and our guarantee that you would leave it would a newfound mentality.
